As far as I’m concerned, stories play a significant role in English teaching. As for the reasons, the following are two major ones according to New Curriculum Standards.

First of all, texts are the basic resources for English teaching. In language learning, texts provide themes, situations, and content. Texts organize and present information according to their unique internal logical structures, stylistic devices, and language forms, serving the expression of thematic meaning. Stories is a kind of texts which are very important.

What’s more, as is put forward in English Curriculum Standards, teachers are responsible for guiding students to be interested in learning and be good at learning. In terms of this aim, interesting rather than common traditional resources should be used in teaching. Telling stories is an effective way that can attract students’ attention.

Here is my story.

Jack is a little goose. He has a lovely hat. He likes wearing it very much. But when he sits, his hat can’t stay on his head. He puts his hat down and begins to play game with the hat. When he gets tired of the game, things are not the same. He can’t find his hat. Where is it? Jack thinks hard. He looks up and down, and walks here and there. He can’t find his hat yet. At this time, his mother comes in. As soon as she sees Jack, she cries, “Oh, my dear! Don’t be foolish. Your hat is on your head.” Jack feels very foolish. He doesn’t want to wear his hat on his head.
